Lifelong Learning a Hot Topic on Twitter!
Last night, I was thrilled to participate in a Twitter.com event with moms interested in going back to school, and I must say — I was impressed!!!
In this tough economy of ours, it was amazing to hear inspiring stories from adults who went back to school — whether it was via online learning or their local community college — to launch or advance their careers, all while setting a great example about the importance of lifelong education to their kids. Other participants discussed their desire to return to the classroom and sought general advice about college admissions as well, and we were happy to assist them with financial aid information, facts about online learning, tips for juggling family and books, and more.
If you missed the event, no worries. You can check out the post-event buzz. For specific resources on how to choose the right school for you, the importance of accreditation, and what adults need to know before they make the school commitment, you can head straight to the event portal page. Best of luck!

I was SO impressed with the smart and savvy participants at the Lifelong Learning #GNO Twitter event. I know many of the #GNO crew well, and they never cease to amaze me. The energy and enthusiasm over learning is one that’s truly inspiring.
As a mom, I am such an advocate of continually learning so that my girls will see the value in always challenging oneself… always improving. Having resources and access to those who can help further those goals — be it through non-credit courses, taking a Yale course for free (really!), diving into an online degree program, or heading to a local college at night and on weekends to finish a degree you once started — is invaluable!
For info on all those options and more, definitely hit into the dedicated “Moms Back at School” page at http://www.collegesurfing.com/mif.
And thanks to everyone who participated. Stay smart!

I loved this topic last night. It’s great to see so many people pursuing their love of learning. Beyond the obvious opportunitie that come from a continuing education, the fire that is sparked is so good for the soul!!

I’ve been joining GNO for more than a month now and always find the topic interesting – not to mention the great people I met there.
This week’s topic was so perfect for me because I have been planning on continuing my study soon. All these times I have this thought of looking for online learning but never had the chance to do a complete research (thanks to excessive tweeting
) and I was so happy to know I could start it on Twitter!!!
As I said before, for me life is to learn about so many things for all mind, body and soul. One thing I can not be more grateful is too see how many wonderful women are pursuing their higher education while being a wife and mother at the same time during the GNO this week. I’m not there yet and what an inspiration those ladies are to me. For this fact alone, even though the formal education I want to pursue is not here yet – I know I have learned so much already.
