The Medical Assisting with Limited X-Ray advanced diploma program starts with the core foundation of medical assisting and adds a concentration of Limited X-Ray skills.

- Performing electrocardiographs
- Administering medications
- Vital sign measurement
- Assisting with surgical procedures
- Phlebotomy
- Assisting with physical examinations

- Basic medical office procedures
The Dental Assistant diploma program provides students with the dental office and laboratory skills required to gain successful employment in dental offices and clinics. Training includes:
- Chairside assisting (using four-handed dentistry)
- Taking and exposing radiographs
- Preliminary examination procedures
- Charting and maintaining patient records
The Medical Office Administration diploma program prepares students for successful employment as an administrative specialist in medical and dental practices, clinics, and hospitals. Training includes:
- Maintaining patient charts and medical information according to HIPAA requirements
- Performing patient reception and scheduling
- Demonstrating proper telephone etiquette
- Providing patient referrals
- Verifying patient insurance information
- Exhibiting a working knowledge of medical terminology
- Performing basic clinical procedures and patient assessment techniques (e.g. CPR, Vital Signs)
- Demonstrating basic principles of medical office administration
The Pharmacy Technician diploma program provides the entry-level skills necessary to assist pharmacists in the following:
- Preparing and dispensing medications
- Maintaining written and computerized patient medication records
- Stocking and inventorying drugs and medications
- Labeling and packaging prescription medications
- Demonstrating effective customer service skills
The Associate of Applied Science degree in Allied Health Technology offers individuals interested in healthcare careers a well rounded general education experience coupled with training in a clinical specialty for entry into the allied health workforce upon graduation.
Upon successful completion of the programs, graduates will:
- Be capable of exercising and demonstrating basic professional and technical responsibilities (associated with a specific clinical field of study) within the workplace
- Be better prepared for continuing their education at the baccalaureate level and beyond
Allied Health Technology Program Sequence
The Associate of Applied Science in Allied Health Technology is comprised of three main phases.
Phase I - Day or Evening
Complete a clinical or administrative specialty area in one of the entry level allied health professions offered at ACT College. Applicants can choose from one of four areas of allied health:
- Medical Assisting
- Dental Assisting
- Medical Administrative Specialist
- Pharmacy Technician
Phase II - Evening Only
Complete the general education requirements required for the conferral of associate degree. All students enrolled in the Allied Health Technology degree program must successfully complete the course offered or its equivalent, to progress to the final Phase of the program.
Phase III - Evening Only
Complete any electives required to ensure you have earned enough credits for the conferral of the Associate of Applied Science in Allied Health Technology. You must accumulate at least 95 quarter credits to receive the degree. |
