Career Quest Learning Centers
The U.S. Department of Labor reports that health care and Information Technology jobs are both growing faster than the rest of the economy. In fact, 1 in 4 jobs created between 2008 and 2018 will be in health care and social services for a total of 4 million new jobs! Career Quest is dedicated to preparing students for careers with a bright future. We train students in focused, short-term programs for jobs in health care, Information Technology and business. In the I.T. and business field, we prepare students for jobs with the technical skills needed to compete and succeed.

Certified Nurse Aide
CNA’s are the eyes and ears of the nurse. They perform tasks such as taking vital signs, transferring patients and assisting with some medical procedures, as well as monitoring residents conditions and assisting residents with activities of daily living (ADL). CNA’s typically work in long-term care, assisted living facilities and within homes and hospices.
The Certified Nurse Aide program prepares the student with the fundamental skills required to perform the job duties of a Certified Nurse Aide. This program follows the requirements of the State of Michigan Curriculum Model for Nurse Aide Training (2006). It will provide the mandatory skills, knowledge base and theory required for proficiency within the nurse aide scope of practice.
Patient Care Technician
Patient Care Technicians (PCT) play a vital role in the healthcare delivery setting, often having more patient contact than any other team member including doctors and nurses. PCTs may assist patients with tasks such as feeding, transferring, bathing, personal hygiene as well as work under the direct care of a nurse. PCTs work in hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, assisted living facilities and long-term care facilities. Careers include patient care technician, EKG technician, phlebotomist, lab technician or ER technician.
The Patient Care Technician Program prepares students to follow instructions, communicate and perform fundamental skills required to perform the job duties of a Patient Care Technician.
Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant Certification Program prepares students for employment in a medical office setting and will also prepare students to assist physicians during examination and treatment, as well as perform a variety of laboratory and clinical procedures. In addition to Medical Assistant classes, students also participate in medical billing classes, medical coding courses, and learn medical office procedures, keyboarding and word processing. This provides students with an excellent foundation in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, as well as the necessary skills to effectively perform the typical job duties of a Medical Assistant.
Medical Administrative Assistant
The Medical Administrative Assistant Program prepares students for employment in a variety of medical office and clinical settings. A Medical Administrative Assistant Certification will prepare a student to perform tasks such as patient scheduling, billing, coding, reception, office accounting and filling. Safety precautions are an important element of the Medical Administrative Assistant Certification; learning CPR and basic clinical tasks give graduates the needed skills for preparing patients for examinations. The blended skill set of the Medical Administrative Assistant Certification will increase versatility and contribution to the medical office setting.
I.T. Professional
The I.T. Professional Program helps students achieve the skills necessary for a career in the high demand Information Technology (I.T.) field. The program prepares students for entry-level employment in end-user computer support occupations. Career advancement in a variety of I.T. career fields, including computer hardware and software troubleshooting in local area networks are opportunities as well. Graduates will be qualified for positions such as help desk support specialist, PC technician and computer repair technician.
Upon completion of the I.T. Professional program, students will be qualified to sit for the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) A+ Essentials, A+ Practical and Network+ Certification examinations, as well as the Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) examinations.
Administrative Office Professional
Administrative Office Professionals are a vital part of the modern office setting; they are responsible for maintaining an office, maintaining records, scheduling meetings, word processing, filing and faxing for multiple supervisors. Possible careers include administrative assistants, executive assistants, secretaries, advanced word processors, customer service representatives and office managers. Individuals working in these roles are often the “heart beat” of an organization, ensuring that everything runs smoothly on a daily basis. This is a great way to advance into numerous exciting professions and to explore various careers.
The Administrative Assistant program prepares students for employment in an office setting. The program is designed to provide a wide array of office and computer skills to prepare graduates for entry-level through advanced level employment. Students will apply and refine their skills in a real-world, in field externship (120 hours).
Linux System Administrator
The Linux System Administrator Program prepares students for careers such as Linux administrator, website administrator, PERL programmer, Linux desktop specialist or IP administrator.
The Desktop Linux course prepares students to become proficient in the installation and configuration of the Linux OS and its associated applications. The other courses focus on diagnosing and troubleshooting Linux Desktop problems as well as preparing students to work in the technical field and to interact with clients professionally. These programs include administrator skills, network security and configuration, performance tuning, backup, web server administration, Windows interoperability and managing user accounts.
