Medical & General Lab Assistant
Our medical laboratory contains microscopes, centrifuges, ECG, bacteriology, phlebotomy and urinalysis equipment. In addition, the laboratory contains examination, surgical, aseptic and CPR training inventory, spectrophotometers, pH meters, balances, and other equipment that would be normally used in a working laboratory.
Intra-Oral Dental Assistant
Our dental laboratory provides full-equipped dental units for chairside and laboratory procedures as well as two complete X-ray units and a fully equipped darkroom. The laboratory contains all sterilization equipment, hand tools and accessories necessary for the preparation of cements and mixing materials and to complete theory and practical training in chairside procedures. Students receive training in dental office and reception procedures during the program.
Medical Office Assistant
Our campuses here at Medix School are equipped with IBM compatible computers as well as tape style and digital dictation equipment. Medical transcription, automated medical office procedures, computerized OHIP billing and word processing are skills which are taught throughout this program. Medical office assistant students use the medical laboratory for clinical procedure training which is included in the program.

Personal Support Worker
The typical student must be mature, dependable and committed to helping individuals, families, groups and communities in need of assistance and support. Prior work or volunteer experience is useful, but not essential.
The social service worker training program is very intensive, and involves a great deal of small group work, practice interviews and exercises in self-awareness. Openings requiring the social service worker designation are becoming more and more widespread, especially in the private sector.
Pharmacy Assistant
The Pharmacy Assistant program is designed to prepare the graduate for employment in retail, industrial or institutional pharmacy setting. If you have strong interpersonal skills and think you would enjoy working as a team member, and with the public, then the pharmacy technician/assistant course may be right for you. Also required are basic math, computer skills and some knowledge of human biology.
Massage Therapy
Our massage therapy program provides a complete range of academics, skills and equipment necessary for students to become a massage therapist. The clinic includes massage tables, aseptic area, laundry facilities, and lecture area. Students learn a variety of massage techniques as well as practical business applications.
Developmental Service Worker
The objective of the developmental service worker program is to enable students to serve those with developmental, learning and/or physical disabilities or mental disorders. Students acquire the knowledge and skill base to effectively interview, assess, assist and counsel clients and their families.
Dental Hygiene
In clinical practice, dental hygienists most often work with general practitioner dentists or specialty practice dentists.
They are educated to work directly with patients to prevent and treat gum disease and tooth decay, and are trained to:
- assess tooth and gum health.
- prepare individualized dental hygiene treatment plans.
- refer patients to a dentist for dental treatment.
As part of their clinical regime, they not only look after the cosmetic appearance of teeth and gums, but also perform complex services like scaling and root planning to treat gum infections and diseases.
