Business Office Management
All organizations need timely and effective office and administrative support to operate efficiently. The business office manager will coordinate this support, plan the work of their staff and supervise them. This manager will allocate work assignments and issue deadlines, then oversee the work to ensure that it proceeds according to schedule and meets quality standards of the organization. Solid working knowledge of accounting will be a big part of their required skills, as they likely will update and maintain records including accounts payable and receivable, and profit and loss statements. They also may serve as liaison both between the organization and the public externally, as well as between management and clerical staffs internally.

Graduates of this program will be prepared for careers as cosmetologists. Graduates will have skills in hair care, cutting, styling, wigs, hair additions, chemical texturizing, coloring and nail and skin services. Graduates will also learn about developing professional relationships and understand the administrative code of the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology.
Graduates will be prepared to sit for the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology exam and upon successful completion of the exam, will become a licensed cosmetologist.
The salon industry has grown rapidly over the last 10 years. Salon owners expect cosmetologists to be highly educated and highly skilled in order to serve a new breed of consumer. The Miami-Jacobs' graduate will have a competitive edge because of the specialized method in which he or she has been trained. Miami-Jacobs' graduates will also have developed strong leadership skills and understand how to influence other positively.

Cosmetology Management
Graduates of this program will be prepared for careers as a cosmetology manager. Graduates will have skills in hair care, cutting, styling, wigs, hair additions, chemical texturizing, coloring, and nail and skin services. Graduates will also learn about developing professional relationships, understand the administrative code of the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology and have knowledge in salon operations, rules and regulations, develop a business plan including a marketing plan for an independent contractor or a spa, and perform office management functions such as bookkeeping tasks and managing the front desk of a salon.
Graduates will be prepared to sit for the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology exam and upon successful completion of the exam, will become licensed as a managing cosmetologist.

Criminal Justice
Miami-Jacobs Career College offers an associate degree in criminal justice that will prepare students for outstanding careers in public safety, crime prevention, corrections, the court system, and private security.
The demand for qualified leaders in law enforcement and criminal justice continues to grow.

Dental Assisting
Dental assistants perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. They work chair-side as dentists examine and treat patients. They make patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair, prepare them for treatment, and obtain their dental records. Assistants hand instruments and materials to dentists and keep patients mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices. Assistants also sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment, prepare trays of instruments for dental procedures, and instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care.

Esthetics (Skin Care)
Graduates of this program will be prepared for careers as an esthetician and are awarded a 36-credit hour diploma in esthetics. Graduates will have the skills to perform basic and advanced face and body treatments, facials, hair removal, make-up design, and relaxation massage. Graduates will also learn about developing professional relationships, understand the administrative code of the Ohio State Board of Esthetics.
Graduates will be prepared to sit for the Ohio State Board of Esthetics exam and upon successful completion of the exam, will become a licensed esthetician.

Medical Assisting
Miami-Jacobs medical assisting program will prepare you for a career in allied health with intimate classroom environments, the latest technology and a rigorous course schedule. As a medical assistant in the field, you can expect to perform administrative and clinical tasks to keep offices and clinics running smoothly; take medical histories; record vital signs; explain treatment procedures to patients; and assist the physician during the examination. Also, Medical Assistants perform basic laboratory tests, instruct patients about medication, draw blood, and take electrocardiograms. Because Medical Assistants work with patients, they must be courteous and present themselves professionally.

As a surgical technician in the field, one can expect to: maintain asepsis in the operating room, pass instruments and sterile items to the surgeon during a procedure, maintain the sterile field, and prepare instruments, supplies and equipment before and after an operation.

Veterinary Technology
Graduates are awarded the Associate Degree of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. This program is designed to prepare students to enter into a career as a Veterinary Technician. The veterinary technician typically will conduct clinical work in a private veterinary practice under the supervision of a licensed Doctor of Veterinary Medicine performing duties to include but not limited to; physical exams, nursing care, diagnostic laboratory tests and imaging, surgical nursing, assisting and anesthetist, in patient care and treatment, dental prophylactic cleaning and scaling, office management and client education. The curriculum will cover all aspects of the Veterinary technician profession from animal behavior to public health.
