Accounting - AAB
Employers continue to seek better thinkers, superior problem-solvers and team players with a strong customer orientation. The Miami-Jacobs graduate will have a competitive edge because of the specialized method in which he or she has been trained. Miami-Jacobs graduates will have developed strong leadership skills and understand how to influence others positively.

Court Reporting - AAB
Associate of Applied Business The program prepares individuals as verbatim Court Reporters and provides students with the knowledge and skills required to work in Freelance offices and Official Court proceedings. Students achieve multi-voice dictation at 225 words per minute or better, transcribe medical, technical, and legal testimony, use Computer Aided Transcription (CAT) systems, write Realtime, and become familiar with courtroom and freelance procedures. Graduates may pursue career opportunities in the courts as official reporters, at freelance court reporting firms, or work as independent, self-employed court reporters.

Criminal Justice - AAB
Criminal Justice - Associate of Applied Business The broad scope of the Criminal Justice program prepares students for entry-level careers in corrections, law enforcement, and/or security. Students examine the legal process from law enforcement, to the courts, and through the corrections system as well as its effect upon society. Graduates may seek careers as corrections officers, court clerks, juvenile support assistants, probation support assistants, or as security or investigative professionals in business, industry, and government.

Dental Assisting - AAS
Miami-Jacobs Dental Assisting program will prepare you for a career in allied health with intimate classroom environments, the latest technology and a rigorous course schedule. As a Dental Assistant in the field you can expect to: perform administrative and clinical tasks to keep offices and clinics running smoothly; take dental histories, record vital signs, explain treatment procedures to patients, and assisting the dentist during the examination. Also, Dental Assistants perform basic X-ray procedures, prepare dental materials for procedures, and assist the dentist chairside. Because Dental Assistants work with patients, they must be courteous and present themselves professionally.

Health Information Technology - AAS
As the number of medical practices grows, so does the need for quality Health Information Technologists. This dynamic program prepares one for a career in Health Information Technology. Graduates could work in roles, such as: Medical Records Clerk; Health Information Technologists; Medical Coder; Insurance and Billing Specialists; Collections; Transcriptionist; or Medical Records Technician. The program emphasizes health information systems, quality assurance, risk management, medical coding, transcription, and billing.

Human Resource Management - AAB
The Human Resource Management program provides training for the person seeking an entry-level career in human resource management in for-profit, not-for-profit and government sectors. The program includes a broad mix of coursework that allows the student to acquire a blend of basic business skills and the core elements of human resource management theory and application. Human Resource Management training may be applied to many business fields. Entry-level positions may be as HR generalist representatives, human resource management trainees, and compensation specialist in business, industry, and government agencies.

Management - AAB
The Management program provides training for the person seeking an entry-level career in business enterprise, general business skills for entrepreneurial pursuits, or promotion opportunities to those currently in the field. The program includes a broad mix of course work that allows the student to acquire a blend of basic business skills and human understanding to supervise other workers, to plan operations, to establish policies, and to pursue business goals. Management training may be applied to many business fields. Entry-level positions may be as sales representatives, management trainees, and service representatives in business, industry, and governmental agencies.

Massage Therapy - AAS
Miami-Jacobs Massage Therapy program will prepare one for a career in Massage Therapy with intimate classroom environments, the latest technology and a rigorous course schedule. As a Massage Therapist one can expect to find employment in private practice, medical offices, hospitals and spas.

Medical Assisting - AAS
The Medical Assisting program provides training for an entry-level career as an important member of the healthcare team. The program emphasizes hands-on experience in both front-office administrative and back-office clinical skills and develops traits employers seek such as the ability to assume responsibility, make decisions, and work independently. Graduates may pursue career opportunities in the growing healthcare industry in doctors' offices, medical clinics, and other medical facilities as clinical medical assistants, administrative medical assistants, and medical office managers where they work under the supervision and direction of a physician or licensed healthcare practitioner.

Medical Billing and Coding - Diploma
The Medical Billing & Coding program prepares graduates to work as entry-level medical billing specialists. Students receive training in standard medical procedure coding, insurances, reimbursements, healthcare standards, and information storage and retrieval systems. Graduates may seek entry-level employment in physician's offices, clinics, laboratories, hospitals, group practices, specialty practices, health insurance offices and nursing homes or they may elect to continue their education to earn the Health Information Technology associate degree.

specimens and operate automated analyzers; perform manual tests in accordance with detailed
instructions. They generally work under the supervision of medical and clinical laboratory
technologists or laboratory managers. Like technologists, clinical laboratory technicians may work in
several areas of the clinical laboratory or specialize in just one.

Medical Office Assistant - Diploma
The Medical Office Assistant program provides training for an entry-level career as a member of the healthcare team and emphasizes front-office administrative skills. Graduates may pursue career opportunities in the growing healthcare industry in doctors' offices, medical clinics, and other health-related facilities as medical office support personnel, medical secretaries, and medical receptionists. Or, graduates may elect to continue their education to earn the Medical Assisting associate degree that will expand their skills to include back-office and clinical responsibilities.

Nail Technician - Certificate
The program objective is to give the student the knowledge necessary to develop manipulative skills for entry-level into the Nail Technology Profession. Graduates of this program will be prepared for careers as a Nail Technician. It is a requirement in the State of Ohio to pass the Practical and Theory State Examinations to practice as a licensed Manicurist. Course work includes instruction in professional development, bacteriology, sanitation and disinfection, nail structure, diseases and disorders, natural nails, artificial nails, pedicures, business/computer principles, product knowledge, and other selected topics. Employment opportunities may include beauty salons, spas, and other related businesses as a manicurist, nail technician, nail specialist, salon manager or owner, educator, platform artist, manufacturer's representative, nail product salesperson, and more.

Paralegal - AAB
The Paralegal program provides training for the person seeking an entry-level career in a law office or in a law-related profession. The program stresses practical and specific paralegal skills designed to meet the employment and personnel training needs of attorneys, corporations, government agencies, law firms, and the legal departments of banks, insurance companies, and various business organizations. Students explore legal research, writing and analysis, basic concepts of substantive, administrative, and procedural law, acquire basic office skills, and gain a general understanding of the ethical and professional responsibilities of a legal assistant. Graduates may pursue careers as paralegals, legal office assistants, legal secretaries/receptionists, claims examiners, and compliance and enforcement inspectors in business, industry, and government.

Security & Investigation - AAB
The Security & Investigation program prepares individuals to work in a variety of positions in the private investigative and security fields. Students receive training in investigations, security, and insurance disciplines along with related writing, office, and technology skills. Graduates may seek careers as a fraud analyst, insurance investigator/adjuster, loss prevention agent, surveillance operative, skip tracer in business, industry, and government.

Surgical Technology - AAS
The Surgical Technology program prepares competent entry-level surgical technologists who are qualified for a career as a member of the operating room team, working together with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical team members. Surgical Technology students receive training in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains. Surgical Technologists maintain asepsis in the operating room, pass instruments and sterile items and equipment to the surgeon during a procedure; maintain the sterile field; and prepare patients, instruments, supplies, and equipment before and after an operation. Graduates may seek career opportunities in hospitals, surgical suites, or surgical centers as scrub surgical technologist, circulating surgical technologist, or second assisting technologist.
