Pat Goins began teaching cosmetology in 1965 in Ruston, Louisiana. Pat worked as a successful style director, education director, and school director at Guy's Ruston Beauty School before acquiring her own schools in 1969. Pat Goins died in 2007 and her sons, Jim and John Goins, continue to run the schools.

Pat Goins Beauty Schools are committed to the responsibility of assisting students in becoming self-supporting cosmetologists. Caring, qualified administrators and staff members are dedicated to providing the training and skills -- in modern, comfortable surroundings -- that students need to achieve their highest potential.
We believe in the principal of teaching students to use their minds for constructive and creative thinking in preparation for competition in the working world, and to be able to achieve a better standard of living through their cosmetology career. Specific objectives for our students include completing coursework, passing the state examination, and obtaining employment in a cosmetology-related position. |

Cosmetology Program
Students receive theoretical and hands-on knowledge and skills in all aspects of cosmetology. Students learn the skills necessary for the diagnosis and application of chemical processes related to hair coloring, skills for styling and shaping of the hair, and skills for manicuring.
Successful completion of the Cosmetology Program will prepare students for work as a: hair stylist, manicurist, color specialist, esthetician, salon owner or manager, theatrical hair stylist, beauty supply sales person, and state board instructor.

Manicurist Program
Students receive the theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills in manicuring and pedicuring that are necessary for successful entry and continual employment as a cosmetologist. Students also receive the skills necessary for the diagnosis and application of cosmetic preparations related to the hands, feet and nails.
Successful completion of the Manicurist Program will prepare students for work as a: manicurist, pedicurist, nail product demonstrator, nail salon owner or manager. Successful completion of the Manicurist Program will also qualify and prepare you for further study in advanced manicurist classes and nail art classes. Prior to completion of the Manicurist Program, a maximum of 250 hours can be applied toward the Cosmetology Program.

Cosmetology Teacher Training
Student teachers receive the skills and techniques related to the teaching of cosmetology. Student teachers gain practical experience teaching along with high quality supervision from professional instructors.
Completion of the Cosmetology Teacher Training Program qualifies and prepares students for state and national teacher training seminars and continuing education. Successful completion of the Cosmetology Teacher Training Program will prepare students for work as a: cosmetology instructor, cosmetology school owner, cosmetology school director, stylist director, esthetics director, state board member or inspector, manufacturers representative, beauty products supervisor, and platform artist.
