Business
Our
Business Administration program is designed to provide you with an
understanding of the office procedures and daily skills needed to work
in a modern business setting. These skills include professional
writing, accounting, finance and more—as well as many up-to-date
computer applications.
SJVC's Construction Management program prepares you for the management responsibilities you'll face in the residential and commercial construction industry. You'll learn career skills such as architectural design theory, methods of field supervision and construction communication procedures. And you'll receive a personal laptop computer to help you with your coursework that is yours to keep.
Our
Corrections program will take you beyond the minimum training required
by law. The classroom instruction includes criminal law, evidence
collection and preservation, report writing and criminal procedures.
Hands-on skills include the use of arrest/control techniques, CPR/first
aid, batons and firearms.
Our
Emergency Services and Safety Management program will introduce you to
the world of security as well as individual and property protection
services. The classroom instruction includes Cal/OSHA compliance,
injury prevention, emergency medical training, criminal law and risk
management.

front-office role in a health care facility. Skills include office
management, medical terminology, patient record keeping, bookkeeping,
insurance claims and the use of Microsoft Office and Medical Manager.
Additional hands-on instruction is offered during an externship in a
health care setting.

with a detailed understanding of insurance processing and coding.
Additional skills include patient record keeping, office management,
medical terminology and ICD-9 CM and CPT coding. Hands-on instruction

Human Resource Administration program is designed to give you a working
knowledge of the procedures, policies and practices used in today’s
human resource departments. Skills include personnel hiring and
evaluation, staff training, employee benefits, payroll management,
labor laws and related computer applications.
Our
Medical Office Administration program is designed to prepare you to
work in the front office of a medical clinic or hospital. These skills
include office management, patient record keeping, bookkeeping and
accounting and professional communication.
Medical
Our
Clinical and Administrative Medical Assisting program is designed to
prepare you in the use of administrative and clinical medical procures
in a medical office or specialty clinic setting. Skills include
insurance billing, appointment scheduling, CPR/first aid and
venipuncture. Hands-on instruction is offered in a clinical externship.
Our
Clinical Medical Assisting program is designed to prepare you to give
direct patient care under the direction of a physician in a wide range
of medical settings. Skills include medical terminology, medical office
management, venipuncture and basic lab tests.

Dental Assisting program is designed to prepare you to work under the
direct supervision of a dentist. Skills include patient care, office
administration and laboratory duties, dental anatomy, radiology,
preventive dentistry and related software applications.

Pharmacy Technology program is designed to prepare you to become part
of a team, handling prescription orders under the direct supervision of
a Registered Pharmacist. Topics covered include pharmacology,
prescription processing and computer data entry, as well as hands-on
instruction during an externship in a pharmacy environment.
Our
Respiratory Therapy program is designed to prepare you to become a
valued member of an elite health care team that evaluates, treats,
manages and educates patients with respiratory illnesses and other
cardiopulmonary disorders. To gain real-world experience, students
receive over 840 hours of extensive clinical practice in a hospital
setting.
Our
Surgical Technology program is designed to prepare you to become a key
member of a medical team in an operating room. Skills include surgical
procedures and techniques, CPR/first aid and medical terminology.
Instruction includes an extensive clinical rotation working closely
with surgeons, anesthesiologists and registered nurses in the surgical
environment.
Our
Veterinary Technology program is designed to prepare you with the
working knowledge in animal patient care. Skills include surgical
assisting, lab procedures, diagnostic imaging and pharmacology.
Additional instruction includes pet owner education and counseling,
preventative measures and an extensive externship in an animal care
facility.
Technical
Our Aircraft Mechanic program is designed to prepare you for certification as an airframe and powerplant mechanic. Curriculum includes instruction on airframe and powerplant overhaul, engine repair and troubleshooting, propeller, turbine and jet engine systems, sheet metal structures, and aircraft assembly and disassembly.
Our
Computer Support Technology program is designed to prepare you for
certification in nine areas of computer knowledge and proficiency.
Skills include basic computer repair, networking design, Web page
design, help desk concepts and procedures, as well as the use of
Microsoft applications. As an approved test site, course enrollment
covers the cost of first round certification testing.
Our
Industrial Technology program is designed to prepare you to earn a
Certificate in Industrial Technology. Skills and technical knowledge
include electrical theory, motor control, programmable logic
controllers, hydraulic systems, bearing and seal applications and power
transmission systems in an industrial setting.
Our
Maintenance Technician program is designed to give you a working
knowledge of the principles and procedures of facility management.
These skills include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, roofing
and structural repair in an apartment or commercial building setting.
Hands-on instruction is offered through laboratory exercises using the
tools of trade.
Our
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology program is designed to
prepare you for a year-round HVAC career. Skills and technical
knowledge include maintenance and repair of residential and commercial
heating, refrigeration and air conditioning systems, heating and
cooling principles, basic theories of electricity and hazardous waste
disposal.
