UWS will fully prepare you for licensure in any of the 50 United States and all 10
Canadian Provinces, as well as for practice in most countries of the world. We
monitor all licensing board requirements to ensure that our curriculum is always
current, comprehensive, and relevant. UWS students and graduates consistently
perform at the highest level on all parts of the U.S. National and Canadian Board exams. Our scores are posted on our WebPages for you to inspect.
Through classroom, lab, and clinical work, your professional skills will grow-and so
will your confidence. Western States offers specific career assistance in
patient/practice management courses (taught by practicing doctors of chiropractic)
where you'll learn the realities of running your business affairs. Our alumni can put
you in touch with a network of UWS graduates to help you in the transition from
school to working world.
Chiropractic is often thought of as a private practice, but as a UWS graduate your
career options will be many and varied. You may become part of a group practice
with a team of chiropractors. You may join a multi-disciplinary clinic, working with
specialists. You may teach, or conduct clinical research. New opportunities emerge
every year.
In whichever practice you choose you will find many satisfactions. Earning a good
living is just part. For many UWS graduates the satisfaction of using one's hands
and mind to solve a patient's problem and help him or her live a healthier, happier
life is their greatest reward.
UWS students agree: living and studying in the great Northwest is a wonderful
experience. Portland nestles among green hills and sparkling rivers, its downtown is
a collection of bridges, cafes, fountains and parks. The climate is mild and our
summers are dazzling. Winter drizzles never stop anyone. An hour or two outside
the city you can windsurf and kayak in the scenic Columbia Gorge, hike the Pacific
Crest Trail, or beachcomb along the coast. You can ski majestic Mt. Hood all year
long.
You will find symphony, ballet, opera, art museums, and dozens of theaters,
galleries, bookstores, churches, and music spots. The food of the Northwest is
legendary, and Portland has a growing selection of topnotch restaurants. The city
itself is a model of good management and enjoys an excellent public transportation
system. If you have a family it is a healthful, exciting place for everyone of every
age to enjoy life to its fullest.
Without question you'll work hard at Western States. The curriculum is demanding
and time-consuming. But we are blessed with the perfect location for the
well-rounded and health-conscious student to find time to play.
