Baton Rouge Community College is an open admissions, two-year institution offering degree and certificate programs to students to help them enter the job market while also enhancing their personal and professional growth. The Louisiana college strives to provide excellence in teaching, access for all and serve as a sustaining resource for the economic development for the state of Louisiana, which was badly damaged after Hurricane Katrina hit the region in 2005.
In fact, Baton Rouge Community College recently was awarded a four-year grant in the amount of $48,000 for the development of a service-learning program that will assist non-English-speaking Katrina victims and local immigrants, while at the same time give its students an opportunity for service-based learning experiences.
This program is in addition to the numerous degree and certificate programs the Louisiana college offers, including business technology associate of applied science, a general studies associate and an associate of liberal arts. Baton Rouge Community College has specific concentrations in natural/physical sciences, chemistry, landscape management, business, computer science, criminal justice, entertainment technology, global studies, liberal arts, studio arts and teacher education.
