Bellevue Community College is the third largest institution of higher learning of all Washington colleges, welcoming more than 37,000 students each year.

Located near Seattle, Bellevue Community College offers associate degrees in such interesting programs as administration of criminal justice, animation and graphics, anthropology fire science and oceanography. At Bellevue Community College, courses are high quality and flexible, with services that are academically, geographically and financially accessible.

Students at Bellevue Community College can take courses at any time of day or night with the Washington college's online and telecourse classes, offered through Bellevue Community College's Distance Education program. Students can catch telecourses on Bellevue Community College's "The College Channel," while others at this Washington college can earn degrees and certificates, such as bookkeeping and associates in arts and sciences, completely online.

Back on campus, Bellevue Community College recently announced plans for a new science-technology building, which will add 22 classrooms and labs at the Washington college. Too, Bellevue Community College student now can earn a bachelor's degree from another Washington college, Eastern Washington University, on BCC's campus. Two new degree programs in technology and social and behavioral sciences are offered on Bellevue Community College's campuses and taught by EWU faculty, adjunct faculty and BCC instructors.

That's not to say that Bellevue Community College instructors don't match their counterparts at four-year colleges. Recently, professors at Bellevue Community College have been named a NASA System Ambassador and won such awards as the national award for longtime achievement from the American Association of University Administrators.

To better handle its ever-enlarging enrollments, Bellevue Community College has more than doubled the square footage of its facilities between 1993 and 2004.

In 1998, Rolling Stone magazine named BCC one of the top 10 community colleges in the nation -- perhaps the cache stems from the 1980s, when Hollywood director Stanley Kramer taught film courses there and actor Jim Caviezel's attended, who later went on to star in the controversial "The Passion of the Christ."

Bellevue Community College's North Campus building was once the headquarters for the fledgling Microsoft Corporation.
