Just last year, Bossier Parish Community College celebrated its 40th anniversary of offering associate degree programs, one- and two-year occupational certificate programs, and specialized career training in a diverse environment that helps students succeed in their chosen career path.

Bossier Parish Community College started out as a pilot program in 1966. By 1967, the school held classes for the first time with 101 students and faculty of five full-time and three part-time instructors. The Louisiana college has grown considerably since then, now offering 25 degree programs, as well as some certificate programs. Offerings include programs in behavioral and social science, business and computer science, liberal arts, and telecommunications. At Bossier Parish Community College, students can choose to attend classes traditionally on campus, or online.

Bossier Parish Community College offers a bevy of services to keep students happy and healthy. Athletics include baseball, men's basketball, women's soccer and softball. Student services include tutoring, financial aid assistance and computer lab time.

In 2004, the Louisiana college moved to its new $55 million campus on highway 80. The official grand opening was held in 2005.

Part of Bossier Parish Community College's mission is to become the leader in workforce development for the state of Louisiana though its short-term programs that provide long-term employment.

Bossier Parish Community College's 40th anniversary events included a cake cutting and mayoral proclamation of October 12 as Bossier Parish Community College day.

The Louisiana college is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

In 2001, Bossier Parish Community College established "Mothers on the Move," which aims to help welfare mothers and other females living in subsidized housing by giving them opportunities to further their education.
