At this New York College, the diversity of the city is reflected in the student body. Bronx Community College serves more than 8,000 students fro over 100 foreign countries, and the school was cited by the U.S. Department of Education for awarding the highest number of associate degrees to minorities.
The campus sits on a tree-lined, 52 acres, located on the highest natural peak in New York City. The buildings are said to have a classical ambience coupled with a modern design, thanks to architects Stanford White and Marcel Breuer.
In fact, if landscape design is your thing, Bronx Community College offers a program in ornamental horticulture, just one of the unique many degree and certificate programs the New York college offers, including warehouse management and therapeutic recreation. Bronx Community College offers courses in the classroom and online as well as on weekends.
The New York College also is home to a unique program called ASAP -- or accelerated study in associate programs. ASAP emphasizes enriched academic support services and block programs all to help students graduate with an associate degree within two to three years. Financial assistance is available for students who demonstrate need and all students in the program receive free textbooks and are provided with laptops during the tenure at Bronx Community College. ASAP programs include business administration, human services, liberal arts and sciences, nuclear medicine technology and paralegal studies.
