Created out of the consolidation of Alexander City State Junior College and Nunnelley State Technical College in 1989, Central Alabama Community College is a two-year institution of higher learning. With the self-appointed mission to meet the general, academic, career training, college transfer, and adult education needs of its student body, Central Alabama Community College's service area spans nearly 12 counties in east central Alabama. In fact, as of the autumn of 2002, this Alabama college had nearly 2,000 students enrolled. And for the academic year of 2001-02, nearly 300 degrees and certificates were awarded.

This Alabama college's ability to aide students from throughout the area is due in part due to its two campus locations: one in Alexander City and the other in Childersburg. Students at both of these campuses enjoy a mild climate throughout the year, as well as a wide array of educational opportunities.

In addition to certificate programs, Central Alabama Community College awards the Associate in Science, Associate in Applied Science, and Associate in Occupational Therapy degree. Opportunities don't just stop there either. Several four-year universities in the state accept the transfer of credits earned from Central Alabama Community College. This means that you can receive your associate degree from Central Alabama Community College and then transfer your credits to a school like Auburn University, Jacksonville State University, Troy State University, or the University of Alabama, in order to pursue a bachelor's degree.
