Chosen as the "Community College of the Year" in November 2002, by the National Alliance of Business, Central Piedmont Community College has also been distinguished by the U.S. Government Accounting Office and by Jobs for the Future as an outstanding national leader in workforce development.
Quick Facts:
In 1963, Mecklenburg College and the Central Industrial Education Center were merged to establish Central Piedmont Community College, one of the first of the 58 colleges in the North Carolina Community College System.
There are more than 60 programs at Central Piedmont Community College, along with a comprehensive literacy program and an extensive array of corporate and continuing education offerings.
Six campuses comprise Central Piedmont Community College: Cato, Central, Harper, Harris, Levine, and North.
For those students located outside this area, Central Piedmont Community College has a comprehensive distance education program, offering more than 250 classes online each semester. In addition to online courses, the North Carolina community college offers traditional (television-based) telecourses.
