Strategically located two hours from Portland and 30 minutes from Olympia, Centralia Community College's rural campus is close enough to the city to take advantage of its cultural and social activities, but far enough away to provide students with a study haven away from the hustle and bustle of the city. With 70 years of academic excellence under its belt, Centralia offers more than 50 academic and transfer programs for students ranging from high school students to senior learners. For students looking to transfer to a four-year university, Centralia Community College offers a wide breadth of liberal arts associate degree programs in everything from fine arts to life sciences. Technical course offerings range from programs typically found at the community college level (including Welding, Nursing, and Corrections Officer Training) to innovative programs in unique areas like Forensic Investigations, Energy Technology, and Diesel Equipment.
In addition to offering degree and certificate programs, Centralia Community College also provides support services to its students including tutoring, academic advising, job skills training, childcare facilities, personal enrichment courses, self-improvement workshops, and English as a Second Language workshops. The school's Running Start program allows qualified high school juniors and seniors as well as senior citizens to enroll at Centralia tuition-free.
When the dismissal bell rings, the learning continues on Centralia Community College's campus. Each year Centralia sponsors an International Education Week designed to facilitate multicultural education. International and domestic students present food, fashion, social events, and cultural presentations from destinations across the globe. As a member of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges, Centralia Community College is also home to six varsity sports teams. Off the field, Centralia students make an impact on-campus through the school's numerous student-led organizations, including a student-run literary journal, a campus radio station, professional organizations, and a chapter of the international honors fraternity Phi Theta Kappa.
