Located at the mouth of the Columbia River, Clatsop Community College provides both liberal arts and professional degree programs to motivated students from across the nation. Clatsop Community College offers particularly strong programs in the areas of maritime studies. The Marine and Environmental Research and Training Station is one of the most comprehensive industrial and marine technology center in the Pacific Northwest. Offering one and two-year degree programs, as well as non-credited industrial training workshops, the station provides students with a solid background in seamanship, vessel operations, navigation, and visual communications. In addition to maritime coursework, the center also operates a full-scale sewage treatment facility made entirely of acquatic plants as well as a Fire Response and Research Center and a 30,000-square-foot Industrial & Manufacturing Technology Center that provides students with a "virtual supermarket" of integrated technical training opportunities.
In addition to an in-class education, Clatsop Community College also provides students with paid cooperative education internships with local companies. Students looking for help in the job market will also have free career counseling and job-search help available on-campus. In addition, Clatsop Community College offers pre-college transition courses, personal counseling, veteran's assistance programs, tutoring, remedial skills workshops, and a school-to-work program to help make a student's move into the job market as smooth as possible.
