The Community College of Allegheny County is about many things -- expert faculty, a full campus life -- but most importantly, it's about choice. With more than 170 programs spread across four campuses that lead to careers or continuing education at four-year colleges, this Pennsylvania college certainly has that nailed down.
In fact, the Community College of Allegheny County is said to be the largest provider of educational services in western Pennsylvania. It has more credit and noncredit students each semester than the universities of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon, Robert Morris and Duquesne combined. The Pennsylvania college is as large as any four-year university, with three campuses in addition to Allegheny: Boyce Campus in Monroeville, North Campus in McCandless, and South Campus in West Mifflin.
The Pennsylvania school offers transfer and certificate programs in art, biology and computer and information science. The school also offers several learning centers to fit students needs: The Frieda G. Shapira Center for Learning, designed to support Community College of Allegheny County students with remedial education programs; The Center for Health Careers, which develops new models for health care education; and The Center for Professional Development, which is the trainer of choice for employers by helping to transform their workforce.
