Hinds Community College is a comprehensive two-year institution that has educated residents of central Mississippi since 1917. Hinds Community College serves five counties -- Claiborne, Copiah, Hinds, Rankin and Warren -- and has six convenient locations within a 30-mile radius of the counties. Approximately 15,000 students attend Hinds Community College each year and are continually satisfied with the quality education it provides at an affordable price.
Hinds Community College offers academic core courses that can lead to an Associate of Arts Degree (AA) and can transfer to a four-year university as well. Hinds Community College also has a technical program that can result in a One-year Technical Certificate or Two-year Technical Associate in Applied Science Degree. Additionally, Hinds offers several one-year and two-year career certificate programs such as Automotive Machinist, Cosmetology, Practical Nursing and others. And with the growing national trend of distance learning, Hinds Community College actively participates in the Mississippi Virtual Community College (MSVCC). MSVCC offers the students of Hinds Community College who need an alternative to the traditional classroom setting a wide selection of courses that both meet their educational goals and can be completed entirely online.
Hinds Community College encourages its students to become involved in a variety of curricular and extra curricular organizations. Over 90 groups including Phi Theta Kappa honor society, Hinds Connection hospitality and recruiting group, Hi-Steppers precision dance team, Lendon Players, Afro-American Culture Club, Vocational-Technical Clubs of America (VICA) and many more offer memberships to the students of Hinds Community College. Everyone can find fun and excitement on the campus of Hinds.
