Created to "enrich lives through learning," this Colorado-based community college provides affordable education programs of study to motivated students. Lamar currently offers transfer and vocational programs of study to students looking to enter their career fields or move on to a four-year institution. Unlike larger institutions, Lamar prides itself on providing unique programs, individualized attention, and small classes to students. Students may pursue either an Associate of Arts (A.A.), an Associate of Science (A.S.), an Associate of General Studies (A.G.S.), an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree, or a vocational certificate in areas like agriculture, cosmetology, or equestrian studies. Lamar Community College also offers pre-professional degree programs, online courses, non-credited personal enrichment classes, and basic skills workshops. For working professionals, the school also offers a FastTrack Evening hybrid degree program. FastTrack students meet in class once a week for three hours then spend the rest of the week completing assignments online. High school students ages 16 and over may also earn college credit through Lamar Community College's dual enrollment program.

To help students survive their program of study, Lamar Community College offers strong academic support services including free academic advising, financial aid counseling, support for disabled students, and placement testing. Students may choose to live off campus or in any of the school-sponsored residential dorms. Additional support services include tutoring, career counseling, transfer assistance, and job search help. Non-traditional students ages 22 and over are eligible to participate in the Lamar Adult Student Organization (LASO). LASO provides mentoring, peer tutoring, family activities, and community service projects designed to help working students become part of Lamar's campus life. On-campus students will also find a multi-million dollar fitness and wellness facility, seven varsity sports teams, and several student organizations, clubs, and publications. Lamar Community College is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association, giving student athletes the opportunity to compete in intercollegiate events across the state.
