Since Northeast Iowa Community College's opening days in 1966, thousands of individuals have chosen to receive a career education and training at the institution. With a 210-acre campus in Calmar, and several sites throughout Iowa -- including locations in Peosta, New Hampton, Cresco, and Oelwein -- Northeast Iowa Community College works to provide accessible, affordable, and quality education and training to community members.
Although this Iowa college only had 170 students enrolled in 12 programs during its first year, it has since continued to grow and expand. Today, almost 5,000 students are enrolled in Northeast Iowa Community College's wide array of diploma and associate degree programs. From programs in administrative assisting, law enforcement, fire science, construction technology, and diesel mechanics, to courses in dental assisting, cosmetology, electroneurodiagnostic technology, and emergency medical services, there's a subject and discipline that will appeal to most anyone.

Northeast Iowa Community College has been authorized by the Iowa Board of Education to award diplomas, as well as the Associate in Arts Degree, Associate in Science Degree, and Associate in Applied Science Degree.
This Iowa college operates the National Education Center for Agricultural Safety. The center was created after Northeast Iowa Community College formed a partnership with the National Safety Council in order to lower the number of accidents in the agriculture industry.
Northeast Iowa Community College offers some classes via distance learning. These courses are counted in the same way as traditional on-campus courses, and are subjected to the same rules of transfer.
Students at this Iowa college participate in such after-school organizations as the American Health Information Management Association, the Iowa Society for Radiologic Technologies, the NICC Arboriculture League, and Business Professionals of America.
The athletics department at Northeast Iowa Community College offers such intramural sports as softball, basketball, bowling, volleyball, and euchre.
