Okaloosa-Walton College was founded in 1964 and is a member of Florida's Community College System. Nationwide, Florida's system ranks among the top 10 for colleges awarding associate degrees. Unlike most other community colleges, however, Okaloosa-Walton College is also authorized to offer bachelor's degree programs -- a trait shared by only six other community colleges in the state of Florida.
In addition to Okaloosa-Walton College's bachelor's degree programs in project management, nursing, and education, the school also awards associate degrees, certificates, and diplomas in a number of programs. For example, associate degree programs range from such subjects as architecture, business administration, computer engineering, and criminal justice, to graphic design, network administration, nursing, and radiography.
Certificate programs -- which are designed to prepare students for entry into professional and technical careers -- are offered in such fields as accounting, graphic design, computer programming, office management, and surgical technology.
Depending on the type of program that you enroll in during your time at Okaloosa-Walton College, you may be able to apply your credits towards earning a higher degree. Certain certificate programs can be put towards attaining an Associate of Science degree, for example, and students who complete the Associate of Arts degree program can transfer to a traditional bachelor's degree-granting college or university.
