Servicing 1,300 students throughout the Pennsylvania region, Pennsylvania Highlands Community College offers day, evening, weekend, and online courses to students from diverse backgrounds. Campus and classes are small, giving students personalized attention they wouldn't receive at larger four-year institutions. The school currently offers four Associate of Arts degree programs (in the areas of communication, general studies, pre-communication media, and teacher education), three diploma programs (in the areas of medical coding specialist, scopist, and medical office specialist), and eight certificate programs. Students in all majors are also welcome to incorporate a paid or non-paid internship into their curriculum.

This school maintains transfer agreements with 24 local colleges and universities, giving students the ability to seamlessly move from a two to four-year school without losing credits.
Pennsylvania Highlands Community College also seeks to ensure student success. The on campus Student Learning Center provides academic and career support at no cost to students. Services offered here include tutoring, computer-assisted instruction in math-related courses, listening skills workshops, career counseling, and disability support services. Pennsylvania Highlands Community College's library also provides access to research databases and journals from across the globe.
Adult learners are especially encouraged to take advantage of Pennsylvania Highlands Community College's continuing education department. Offering basic skills and personal development courses, this non-credited program allows older learners to hone their skills without the pressure of fulfilling stringent course requirements. Pennsylvania Highlands Community College operates a Workforce Learning Resource Center available to the general public. Designed to support area businesses, qualified companies have access to free online and in-person employee training in over 1,000 areas of study.
On campus academics are supported by an active campus community. Pennsylvania Highlands Community College hosts nine student clubs and organizations that provide excellent opportunities for students to get to know each other and their professors outside of a classroom setting.
