Buried in the mountainous Piedmont region of Virginia, Piedmont Virginia Community College is home to several transfer and vocational programs of study. The school currently offers two Associate in Arts degree programs, six Associate in Science degree programs, 20 associate in applied science degree programs, and 18 vocational certificates.
Students with exceptional academic records will be given the opportunity to join the school's Honors Program. Honors Program graduates leave campus with an Honors distinction on their diploma and gain access to Honors-only courses and seminars. All students are encouraged to supplement their in-class studies with service learning activities. Piedmont Virginia holds strong ties with the surrounding community, giving students the opportunity to volunteer or intern with local companies before heading off into the real world.
In addition to servicing transfer and liberal arts students, Piedmont Virginia Community College maintains strong ties with the local workforce as well. The school is a leading provider of workforce training and education in the Piedmont region, providing career readiness certificates in everything from computer operations to phlebotomy.
The Piedmont Virginia Community College campus is home to a wide array of intellectual and creative activity. Each year the school brings regionally and occasionally nationally recognized speakers to campus. The V. Earl Dickinson gallery hosts art exhibits from students and visiting artists while the building's main stage hosts student theatrical, musical, and dance performances throughout the year. Piedmont Virginia Community College also sponsors a number of cultural and social activities for students. Annual events include a dance contest, a Black History Month celebration, and a campus-wide job fair.
Student support services offered at Piedmont Virginia Community College include academic advising, personal counseling, financial aid counseling, disability support services, tutoring, computer labs, transfer assistance, assessment testing, and mentoring all available free of charge to enrollees. For graduating students, the school provides career counseling, resume-writing workshops, job search support, interview preparation classes, and assistance preparing a work-related portfolio.

This past year, Piedmont Virginia Community College engineering student Benjamin Sargeant was named as a member of the All-USA Community College Academic First Team. He is one of just 20 community college students in the country to receive this recognition.
This year, 81 Piedmont Virginia Community College students received their associate in applied science degrees in nursing. This is the largest nursing graduating class on record for the college and a 42 percent increase in nursing graduates compared to the spring before.
Thanks to two new grants awarded to Piedmont Virginia Community College last year, the school will expand its online biology and nursing in collaboration with the University of Virginia Health System.
Students can enter Piedmont Community College with a head start by taking dual enrollment, dual credit, or approved articulated courses while in high school.
