Riverland Community College is a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. The school prides itself on providing a personalized educational environment at a cost all students can afford. Each year, approximately 4,000 students from across Minnesota enroll in the school's credited college programs which include associate degree and professional certificate programs of study. An additional 4,800 students take advantage of the school's non-credited personal enrichment and basic skills courses each year as well as courses offered through the continuing education department. Riverland Community College provides 50 career programs and 32 transfer programs of study geared towards students ultimately seeking a bachelor's degree.

Through the "Be Your Best" grant program, 20 students from underserved, bicultural, and bilingual backgrounds will have access to additional academic and financial support. Services include specialized tutoring, academic counseling, development classes, individual advising, and access to English Language Learning resources. All Riverland Community College students will have access to free academic advising, financial aid counseling, support for physically disabled students, and transfer assistance.

Riverland Community College is also one of the few two-year institutions to offer a study abroad program. Trips for the 2007-2008 school year include a France travel-study program that hits Provence, Monte Carlo, Avignon, Arles, Pont du Gard, Aix-en-Provence, St. Tropez, Nice, Cannes, Lyon, and of course Paris as well as a two-week trip to London to take in British culture, history, and theatre.

Riverland students are active even outside of the classroom. The school currently supports seven varsity athletic programs as well as an array of student-run clubs and organizations which include student publications, performing arts groups, social clubs, and professional associations. The school sponsors social and cultural events throughout the year for both Riverland Community College students and the general community. Events for 2007 included a performance of "Smokey Joe's Café," several student professional art exhibits at the James Wegner Art Gallery, and a slew of musical performances.

Quick Facts:

This past year, three Riverland Community College students competed at the 43rd annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference Championships in Kansas City, Missouri.

This year, the school added a brand new Patient Care Associate (PCA) certificate program to its academic roster in partnership with the Albert Lea Medical Center and the Owatonna Clinic - Mayo Health System.

About 41% of Riverland Community College students attend school full-time. 53% are female.

Riverland Community College is home to a chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honors society for two-year college students.
