Providing both transfer and professional development programs of study, Snead State Community College currently offers over 100 programs of study spanning from poultry science to journalism. An accredited member of the Alabama College System, Snead has several transfer agreements with area institutions, giving students looking to transfer to a four-year institution the ability to do so without losing college credits. Students choose when and where they'd like to take course on this campus. Snead State Community College offers day, evening, weekend, online, teleconference, and distance learning courses designed to fit any schedule. Students looking to head to law, medical, or nursing school after Snead State Community College will also find an array of pre-professional programs designed to prepare them for the higher ed road ahead. In addition to offering strong programs of study, Snead State Community College also provides its students with hands-on training through reciprocity agreements with the Northern Alabama Business and Technology Center and Athens State University.

Unlike typical two-year institutions, Snead State Community College offers its students on-campus residence halls as well as academic and career advisors to help you on your educational journey. The 17 student-led organizations range from social clubs to professional associations to civic organizations. Snead also plays host to three nationally-recognized honors societies.

To work off all of that school stress, Snead State Community College students participate in seven different sports teams. Each year, Snead State Community College hosts a school-wide faculty-versus-students softball game as well as an S Day celebration featuring silly athletic events such as tug-o-war tournaments. The school also offers a number of student-led organizations including a student government association and student-run newspaper. For those with creative talents, Snead State Community College also offers strong music and theatre departments as well as five different on-campus performing arts groups.

To help ensure maximum success after leaving Snead State Community College's campus, the school offers free career and academic counseling to all students.
