South Florida Community College is a comprehensive and open-access institution dedicated to maintaining a student-centered learning environment that provides excellent educational programs, training, and services; and working in partnership with organizations and communities in providing leadership, educational opportunities, cultural offerings, and economic development for the College District.

South Florida Community College has a record of excellence and provides strong academic and technical programs. The Florida school offers small class sizes, state-of-the-art traditional and distance learning courses, committed faculty who care about students, and flexible course schedules.

South Florida Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. In order to provide options for upper division degrees, we have partnered with several public and private colleges and universities to provide local degree programs that are close to home. The partnership degree programs offer the same high-quality degrees that are provided on home campuses. However, at the South Florida Community College University Center classes will be smaller, which means students will receive more personal attention and may experience more social interaction with peers. Classes are offered primarily at the Highlands, Florida school campus in Avon Park. Some programs offer classes through distance education, including web based and online options.

Along with the Highlands Campus, South Florida Community College has three additional centers for the student's convenience. They are located in DeSoto County, Hardee County, and Lake Placid.

To accommodate students with busy schedules and different interests, South Florida Community College offers distance learning, hybrid, and technology-enhanced classes.

The mascot of this Florida school is the panther and the athletic department includes volleyball, softball, and baseball.
