Offering more than 80 degree and certificate programs of study, Western Nebraska Community College is a hub of academic and vocational training. For transfer students, Western Nebraska offers Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degree programs in fields ranging from business administration to physics. The school also offers pre-professional programs in the areas of dentistry, engineering, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy, veterinary medicine, and law. Students with exceptional academic records at Western Nebraska Community College will have the opportunity to join Phi Theta Kappa, Western Nebraska's chapter of the international honors fraternity for students attending two-year institutions.

Those heading straight for their career will find vocational training programs in areas like cosmetology, health information management systems, and early childhood education on Western Nebraska's campus. While Western Nebraska Community College does offer Associate of Applied Science and Associate of Occupational Studies degree programs, it also offers shorter diploma and certificate programs of study as well as professional skills awards.

Western Nebraska Community College's Harms Advanced Technology Center caters to older adults looking to jump back into the classroom. Offering programs in areas like grant funding and entrepreneurship, the Harms Advanced Technology Center acts as an educational supplement for adults armed with work experience.

All Western Nebraska Community College students may elect to live on-campus in either of the two school-operated dormitories or may live on their own, taking courses on-campus or remotely through Western Nebraska's distance education program. After class is over, Western Nebraska Community College students participate in the school's seven varsity athletic teams and take advantage of the 22+ student-led organizations found on-campus. Western Nebraska students also contribute to two student-run publications, participate in the school's intramural program, and take part in the numerous musical and dramatic productions Western Nebraska puts on each year.

Additionally, Western Nebraska Community College also provides on-campus academic advising, personal counseling, financial aid counseling, free computer labs, tutoring services, GED preparation courses, independent study courses, assessment testing, and career counseling.

This summer, Western Nebraska Community College is adding programs of study in plumbing and welding as well as online courses in business ethics.

Each year the Harms Advanced Technology Center plays host to a summer youth camp for middle and high school students. Additionally, the Center also hosts one-day Entrepreneur for a Day camps for students and creativity camps for younger learners.

Western Nebraska Community College also hosts a number of social, academic, and cultural events each year. The 2007 line-up includes a Sustainable Development Symposium, on-campus barbecues, and a school-sponsored Language and Arts festival.

Qualified high school students and veterans will have supplemental instruction thanks to Western Nebraska Community College's TRiO program.
