TCI: CollegeSurfing.com Featured School of the Week - April 21, 2008
by Amanda Fornecker
In a city that never sleeps, the

Technical Career Institutes

(TCI) continually grants technology degrees to those looking to further their careers. Not only does TCI provide programs that make its students technologically savvy, but it is also located in New York City, where students can learn and experience more than most in other locations.

TCI has a variety of programs to help students so that they can gain the practical skills they'll need to use in the real world. Associate degrees and certificates abound in order to give TCI students the specialized knowledge they need to succeed. The technology programs at TCI are organized within divisions so that similar concentrations are all grouped together.

There are three divisions with programs at TCI. The Business and New Media Technologies division includes Associate of Applied Science degrees in certain fields, such as digital media arts technology, health information technology, and more. The Division of Engineering and Information Technologies at TCI includes programs like networking technology, automotive technology, electronic security systems, and more. TCI's HVAC programs can be found within the Division of Facilities Technologies and will introduce TCI students to the latest climate control equipment. There is also a division for Liberal Arts that provides some of the general, core classes of TCI.

The admissions process at the Technical Career Institutes is meant to be a fairly simple process so those interested in and dedicated to a serious course of technical study can take advantage of all the resources offered to TCI students. The only requirements for potential TCI students are a high school diploma or GED. If a student has neither, they may take an exam that will prove they are knowledgeable and will benefit from study at TCI.

There are many career services offered at TCI. Counseling sessions will help students talk about their future and see where they fit in the real working world. There are also workshops and seminars that help students learn how to go to interviews, develop their resumes, and work on their communication skills. These are such important skills to have. TCI not only gives students a technical education, but also prepares them for their real world experiences.

TCI also offers real world experience. In order to work in the future you need to be able to put your classroom knowledge into high gear in the workplace. TCI gives students the opportunity to work through internships and co-ops. These jobs and internships will not only give you firsthand experience, but it will sometimes even pay you and give you the opportunity to earn college credit toward your TCI degree.

For your technical school and technological needs, the Technical Career Institutes are certainly a great place to begin. With a well-rounded education and a specialized course of study, TCI students are sure to get what they need in a city that has all the possibilities to jump-start a career.

To learn more about their technology programs, be sure to request more info from the Technical Career Institutes.
