Technical mavens who are drawn to boats are also sometimes drawn to a career as a marine mechanic. These individuals go to marine mechanic schools. They learn how to repair and maintain boats and machines in boats. Marine mechanic colleges get them prepared for positions at marinas, boat yards, yacht clubs, or parks. And marine mechanic careers are not too shabby -- boating is hot right now.

In addition, you won't have to travel much, if any at all, which then translates to more time with your family.

Industrial machinery mechanics, however, takes four-year apprenticeships sponsored by a local trade union though. Depending on your specialization of choice, look into requirements and the types of attributes employers are looking for.
After completing the necessary marine mechanics courses, marine mechanics can look forward to on-the-job training. After training, apply for jobs at companies like American Honda, American Suzuki, Kawasaki Motors Corp., Mercury Marine, Volvo-Penta, SeaDoo, Polaris, Bombardier, and Yamaha Motor Corp.
