Duties of a secretary
Secretarial duties may vary depending on who they work for. However, most secretaries work on computers, creating spreadsheets, typing, working on presentations, and taking care of correspondence. Mainly, a secretary is there to support the executive staff in any task they may need to complete.

Where to find secretary jobs
There are many different secretary jobs available in different fields. It's fairly easy to find a secretary job you're interested in because there is a need for secretaries in a variety of offices with different interests.

Secretary jobs are mainly in demand at schools, corporate offices, and hospitals. You may also find a secretary job in legal and medical offices, where secretaries may have a more specialized knowledge of the field.

Secretary programs
A secretary may not need to hold a secretarial degree, depending on their place of employment. However, since there are many computer skills necessary with the job, a secretary may find it beneficial to take a few classes or work through some sort of secretary program. As with most jobs, the higher degree you have, the more likely you are to earn a higher salary.

Demand for secretary jobs
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the demand for secretaries will grow about as fast as average for all other jobs by 2016. In fact, the BLS estimates that about 362,000 new jobs will arise in that time. Certain growing industries, like health care, scientific and technology fields, will likely have the most openings. In fact, there may be an abundance of secretary jobs available due to the fact that many are looking to advance their skills by switching professions.

If you're organized, like to keep control in the office, and have a real knack for computers, then a career as a secretary might be the profession you've been searching for.
