A social worker may work in a variety of places, including residential facilities, offices, and hospitals. For those social workers who work with children, you'll find social workers in schools. Additionally, social workers may travel to visit local clients in their homes or in other facilities.

Social worker programs
There is a variety of social worker programs that will grant Bachelor's degrees to students, which is often the minimum degree required to work in the field of social work. Some social workers go on to get more specific experience with Master's degrees in social work. It is also common for social workers to have psychology, sociology, and other similar backgrounds because all these fields are related.

Demand for social worker jobs
There is always a demand for social workers, because current social workers carry a large workload due to being understaffed. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that the opportunities for social workers should be great, because this field is expected to grow much faster than the average at 22 percent. Those with the best prospects will be social workers who specialize in the aging population due to the number of baby boomers.
